Natural Stone vs. Manufactured

(Cultured) Stone...

People often ask about the comparisons or differences between natural and manufactured stone. The most common question is the question of cost. Natural stone generally is a less expensive product in and of itself, (depending on type of stone) especially if you have a generous collection already on your property. Manufactured stone although more expensive to purchase, lends itself to huge savings in labor costs due to the speed and efficiency of its installation. Today's manufactured stone is extremely believable and well crafted. Another option is a natural thin veneer stone which is made of natural stone but is installed like manufactured stone.

Manufactured stone and natural thin stone veneer tend to be a little more versatile due to the fact that you can install it pretty much anywhere in your house that you like, because it doesn't need a load bearing shelf to be installed. You can even give an old fireplace or chimney a face lift with it making it look brand new.

Longevity is another question commonly asked. The answer is simple, natural stone has been here for thousands of years making competition tough for manufactured stone...however manufactured stone will provide decades and decades of beauty to your home.

What ever your decision may be, we at Andover Masonry assure you that you will cherish your new stone feature what ever it may be.
